Best Friends

Welp, Christmas is all over. It was a great run, but it always seems to end too fast. I mean, we have a whole month to listen to Christmas music, eat 5x the food we usually would, and put up decorations in our house for four short weeks. We also get a visit from Santa, and the gifts we get depend on how good or bad we were the previous year. I guess I was a good girl this year because Santa was very good to me this year! I got some new slippers, pajama pants, a new winter coat, an ice scrapper, a few other random things.....AND THIS:

Santa knows me too well :) Needless to say, it was a great Christmas.

My Goal For Christmas Break

A few days ago I read a biography (does wikipedia count?) on my favorite actor, Christopher Ashton Kutcher. I could tell you all about his life but by the end of it I will probably want to punch Demi in the face and marry him myself. Sooooo I'll let you read the bio on your own time.

Anyway, over break I have decided to make a little goal for myself. Because I haven't seen many movies with the beloved Ashton in them, I am making a goal (over break) to watch every single movie with him in it.

This should be fun. I mean, look at that FACE!

I Wish..

We wouldn't have had so many memories together, because then maybe this would be easy.
I would have said sorry, just one more time.
I would have said the right thing.
You changed your mind, just for that one decision.
I didn't say what I said last November.
You wouldn't have said what you said last November.
I wouldn't have acted how I did after the fact.
I would have given you the note I wrote to you.
I had the guts to say what I wanted.
For your happiness.
For my happiness.
You were here.

..and sometimes, I wish it never would have happened. Because I'm sorry it did, you did deserve better, and we both know that.

Happy Holidays.

New Year's Resolution

This year I am going to stick with my New Year's Resolution. I say that every year, but this one is a fun one. No diet, losing weight, or anything stereotypical like that.

I am going to do a one-year photo diary. I will take a picture every day for 365 days straight and put it up on facebook, then under the photo on the description I will describe what the photo is and what I did that day.

This. Is. Going. To. Be. SO. Much. Fun.

I could start off with what I did Wednesday, December 15th, 2010...eat at Steak N' Shake and gain 55 pounds, here's a preview..

'Tis the Season..

Merry Christmas everyone :)

Planet Earth

Watched a little bit of "Planet Earth" today. This is probably my favorite documentary of all time. Not that I really enjoy documentaries anyway, but if I had to pick a favorite, it would be this one. Why? Let me inform you :)

Number 1: I always wished I could be a photographer or camera (wo)man. The angles that are shown on the documentary make you look at things in a different view and really challenge the way you think about the things that you see. It is so cool to see little insects close up eating their food and their eyes and small intricate bodies.

Number 2: The narrator is British. Enough said.

Number 3: There is a whole section on penguins. And I love penguins.

Number 4: It is really amazing to see the Earth that God Himself created. The Earth is so huge, it's great to see it all being captured by cameras. Although this does not do it justice whatsoever.

Number 5: I feel like a nerd when I watch it, which in turn makes me feel smart.

Happy November, fellas.

Today marks the first day of November! Happy November, fellas. I remember when I wrote my first blog post about lightning bugs in the summer. Those were the good ol' days. I got to wear tank tops and flip flops and have fun with my boys! Now I walk outside and have to run back to my room to grab a jacket and boots. It doesn't bother me, I love being cold.

Im not gonna have any motivation to go to class though, it's just too cold in the morning to walk to class, especially when I'm half asleep. If I skip any more classes, you know where to find me!

Oh and for the next thirty days the boys here will not be shaving. No shave November should be banned.

Halloween

Had a great weekend! Started off with Friday night when my friends and I went to a dance performance called "Fall Into Dance." We went to see all of our hot friends dressed up and dancing with their chairs! But really, it was fun watching it! After that we got all dressed up and went to Fall Fest which consisted of apple cider, dancing, a bonfire, and hay rides! My night consisted of...dancing! I didn't wanna do anything else. Oh by the way, I was the cutest ZEBRA there, yes I was a zebra, not a mouse/cat.

Saturday I went to the rugby game in the afternoon and watched my boys dominate! After that Meghan and I went to Business Casual and got some good laughs for just two bucks! After the show was over, Meg and I ran over to the Haven cause I had to pee like a racehorse! After that, I got dressed up like a zebra again and went to a Halloween party right off campus. It was at my president's house and it was so much fun. There was dancing and food, oh and the cops/AU police.

Basically, Halloween rocks! And I love dressing up as a ZEBRA. Yes, you heard me correctly, I was a zebra. Look at the picture up there, what do you think?

My Dream

I've been thinking lately, and I have made a new goal for myself in life.

I don't care how much money it costs.

I don't care how far I would have to drive.

And I don't care if the security guard says I can't kiss him.

I WILL MEET KEITH URBAN.

Bullying Blamed for HSE Student Suicide

Fishers - Hamilton Southeastern students returning from fall break are also mourning the loss of a classmate. 14-year-old Jamarcus Bell took his own life last week. His parents say he was a victim of bullying at Hamilton Southeastern High school. The parents of Jamarcus Bell are asking the school to take a more active stand to prevent bullying in the system. Anti-bullying has been in the news lately, after the suicide of several teens across the country, including 15-year-old Billy Lucas of Greensburg. President Obama posted a video and statement on the White House website encouraging young people to seek support and guidance if they are being bullied.

.........................

Here's the thing. I am tired of hearing stories like this. Want to know why? It sickens me to hear that a 14-year old boy took his own life because other people weren't nice to him. How can it go that far? How can a boy be so sick of living and so sick of people being mean that he takes his own life? This should absolutely not be happening. How can kids his age even bully someone so much that it has to go this far? It literally makes me sick to my stomach hearing that. I mean, I could go on for days about something like this.

You know when you were in like 5th grade and there was that convocation about bullying? You know, they brought in actors and actresses and they put on a scene and told us all about bullying and why it was bad? And everyone in the audience (myself and my peers) thought we were too cool to listen because we didn't think bullying was a problem? I wish we could all go back to that convocation day, AND LISTEN. Because Obviously, bullying is a problem. If 14 year old kids are taking their own lives because of it, IT IS A PROBLEM.

Seriously, I can't handle this kind of news anymore. I can't stand to hear that another student died because of bullying. It just should not be happening. There is absolutely no reason to bully something. I don't care how much you think that person is a loser or doesn't belong. But really, should it ever go so far as death? Absolutely not.

I didn't even know who Jamarcus Bell was. But I do know someone who did, my brother. And thanks to anyone who ever bullied Jamarcus, my brother has to deal with his death. No, he was not best friends with Jamarcus, but he did know him. So yes, he is being effected. And because my brother is being effected, so am I.

I don't know what I am going to do if I ever hear about a case like this again. I can't handle it. Like I said before, it just sickens me that bullying can so THAT far, to where a kid is honestly not happy enough with his life to even live anymore. I can't fathom that kind of unhappiness. But apparently, someone gave him hell.

My heart and prayers are going out to Jamarcus and his family. Although I have never known anybody that has taken their own life, I am still praying daily for their family to stay strong and know that the Lord is going to be there with them during this time of loss.

If you haven't already, read my blog about the movie "To Save a Life." It talks a little bit about bullying and suicide. The bottom line is we all just need to love each other. In the bible, the word "love" is used 558 times. Does that mean ANYTHING to ANYONE? Seriously, we are all so concerned about ourselves that we sometimes don't see the person who is screaming out for help, hurting. Around 8% of teens who are bullied attempt to commit suicide, and many succeed in doing so. You may be saying, well 8% isn't that high of a number. It's higher than 0%, which is what that number should be.

I once read a post secret that said, "To the lady at the bank: I'm glad you think my notebook is absolutely gorgeous. It's full of suicide letters. You can have it when I'm gone.."

Romans 13:10 "Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law."

Be a friend to someone, you never know what they are going through.

Cell Phones at the Dinner Table

Last week my mom, brother and I all went out for dinner at my sister's place of employment, Shebella's. Shebella's is a cute little restaurant that serves Italian food, subs, a buffet, and great dessert pizza!

As we are waiting on the waitress to take our order, we are all taking pictures of my sister, Lexi, as she is hostessing. (Yes, we ALL had our cell phones out at the dinner table, a big no-no!) Anyway, the waitress took our drink orders and we politely waited for her to bring them out to us.

My brother had his phone out on the table and somebody called him. He proceeds to look down at his phone, and said to mom and I, "I gotta take this."

What is this world coming to? He's 14!

Bubbles & Gandhi

Lately I've been going through my old things, you know, pictures, journals, old notes (where every word was lol or haha..was I really that cool?). Anyway I got to a point and thought to myself, "Okay, now that I've been immature and done stupid things with friends, what do I do next?"

I am currently in my second year of college and I feel like I have done absolutely nothing with my life. I feel like I haven't ever helped anyone with any problems. I mean come on, I'm seriously the only person without a picture of myself holding an african american child in my pictures on facebook (you all know it's true).

But seriously, what am I doing here? I am only here for 2 and a half more years! I need to do something, make something out of this place I have called home for a year and a half.

I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. I don't know what to do with my life. I feel like I am stuck in a bubble, wanting, screaming to get out. But I'm stuck. I want to make the impact, but how?

Ohhh I guess I'll just take Gandhi's advice, "You need to be the change you wish to see in the world."

Okay then.

1/2 Birthdays

What do people do to celebrate their 1/2 birthdays? Do people even recognize when their half birthday is?

Today is my half birthday which means now when people ask me how old I am, I can say with some pride, "Nineteen and a half." You know when kids are little and you ask them how old they are and they tell you to guess but when you guess you say "five" or "six." You never think to say "five and a half" or "six and a half." But then when you don't put the half on the end they get sassy and say "No, I'm five and a half." You guys all know what I'm talking about.

Anyway, I just wanted to know who actually thought of when their half birthday was and if you recognize it, what do people do to celebrate?

Could you go to the bakery and ask for half of a cake? Or how about haf the age you are turning in number of candles. So I would only have 9 3/4 candles on my half cake. Ever thought of wearing just half your "birthday suit?" Hehehe.

I thought about it, then realized I would be attending classes today (but only half of them), and decided against it.

Happy 1/2 Birthday to Me! :) Mom, thanks for giving birth to me 19 and a half year ago, I really appreciate it.

Don't Need No Starbucks

I love chai tea lattes. Pretty simple drink, a little bit of milk, couple spoonfuls of sugar, and a cup of chai tea. Easy enough. I make 'em all the time at my house without having to spend an arm and a leg (aka $4.25) at Starbucks.

Thankfully, we have an alternative here at my good ol' school. We have a cute little coffee shop in the basement of one of our cafeterias. It's called Mocha Joe's and it's a typical place to drink coffee and visit with friends, complete with pool tables and ping pong matches every day.

I went there tonight with some friends to study and chit chat. Before we got to studying, we ordered our drinks at Mocha's. I ordered a chai tea latte because I had never tried it here and figured it couldn't be all that bad. Remember, this is an easy drink to make.

The barista rung up my order and said "That will be $2.75." I kind of laughed to myself thinking, is this some kind of trick? Is it 'Everything is 1/2 off today' day? Am I being punk'd? Well, whatever the reason, I looked up at him and said "Wow! This is so much cheaper than Starbucks!" He was less than enthused when he replied with a "Yeah."

Hey, I was satisfied, he couldn't steal my thunder.

Howdy Ya'll

This weekend was very eventful and included me meeting new people (YAY!), dancing at a hoedown, and watching buses drive around in the figure eight.

Friday night all of us girls went out to celebrate Libby and Abby's birthday. We went to Olive Garden (all 17 of us) and I got to spend some quality time with some girls that are great! Nothing too eventful happened there, we ate, laughed, ate some more, oh and I wore a dress. Note to self: don't wear a dress on a windy day and take pictures outside when you can't hold your dress down. Anyway, after we got back from the restaurant we got all dressed up like cowgirls and went to the square dance. That was kind of a fail considering the boys there were being completely anti-social and didn't want to dance with any of us girls for more than half a song. Boys, you know who you were, yes, all three of you that ditched me. It actually ended up being a really fun night, though. A handful of us ended up at Steak N' Shake eating those delicious, crisp fries, and talking about the events (or lack thereof) of the evening. Note to self again: don't wear a dress and sit in the backseat of a car on top of three other people while two boys are in front.

Saturday was pretty eventful as well. I woke up around lunch time and procrastinated doing my homework. Haven food was our dinner for that night (not as appetizing as Olive Garden, but better than the MP), and after dinner we got dressed up like hicks and headed towards the Anderson Speedway for the Night of Thrills. The Night of Thrills is probably one of the funnest evenings that you will ever experience. Just imagine: school buses driving around in a figure eight track, on the verge of T-boning another bus (don't worry, no kids were aboard). People that were at the Speedway raced their cars, yes their very own cars, like the ones they drive to work. That race is nuts because you don't want to see anyone crash their car but at the same time you want to see a good crash (with no injuries of course). After the races were over, we headed to IHOP, only the best place in the world to order Nutella Crepes. The night didn't end there. We ended this very fun evening sitting in Dunn Lobby playing fishbowl. Fishbowl is a game very similar to charades and Catch Phrase, but so much more fun. We all headed off to bed once my team dominated, of course.

Sunday morning means church. Kristina and I went to East Side together and afterward went to the MP to get some brunch. By the way, brunch the the absolute best thing that a college student could ever ask for. French toast, biscuits and gravy, scrambles eggs. All for just one meal. Get it while it's hot. After we finished our meals, we headed back and rested most of the afternoon and while dinner time came around, Haven was our choice of food yet again. After dinner is where this day heats up. Fishbowl was played yet again, with different people, though, to make things more interesting. Fun times.

Thank goodness for Labor day. I slept in today til noon and woke up to the sound of people laughing, and very loud music. Labor day volleyball! Kristina, Carrie, Abbey and I all went out for some volleyball fun while trying not to get sunburned. We headed in early because we all procrastinated homework these last few days, so today was definitely a homework kind of day. We decided for dinner, Panera was the best option, obviously. After a scrumptious dinner, it was back to the books. Not a very fun way to end the evening, but satisfying, knowing that I got everything done.

I give this weekend an A+.

Vending Machines

We have all used a vending machine. They are stoked full of chips, sweets, and even sometimes, ice cream. Once you put your money in the slot, the item of your choice is supposed to come out of that twirly thing and down to the bottom of the machine. Easy enough.

Not for this one girl.

I sat in a lobby of a building at my school as many other student surrounded me, reading and studying. This one girl to my left was a wiggle worm, she couldn't sit still as she was reading. She sat so I could see her out of my peripheral vision, making her every move apparent to me.

After about five minutes of vigorous reading, she put her book down and pulled out her wallet. This girl grabbed a dollar or two and headed over to the vending machine. I watched her put in her money and push the two buttons to get her snack. She stood there with hands on her hips as she watched the vending machine to absolutely nothing. She cocked her head to the side and kind of did that shake-the-machine-maybe-I-will-get-my-snack-this-way thing and she stood there hopelessly and accepted the fact that the machine had stolen her money.

She goes back to her seat, picks her book back up, and begins reading again. The girl reads for about two short minutes and apparently realizes she REALLY wants that snack and pulls out another couple of bucks from her wallet. So, she walks over to the machine and puts her money in and pushes the buttons, just like before.

And the same thing happens.

Hands on hips, head cocked to the side. Frustrated now, she stats shaking the machine more forcefully than the time before (yes, there are about ten other people on this little room who are probably watching her like me).

When she doesn't get her snack by shaking the machine, she decides desperate times call for desperate measures. She proceeds to reach her hand up that little swinging door in hopes of grabbing her snack. After doing this for a couple of minutes, this girl realizes that, yes, the machine of food has indeed won.

I sat there and kind of laughed to myself the whole time, feeling a little bit sorry for this girl because I know how it feels when a piece of technology beats you.

She left angrily and I kept reading my book for my next class. Little did I know, she was in that class with me. She sat next to me and introduced herself and I really wanted to tell her that I had just watched her struggle for the last twenty minutes of her life and that I felt her pain.

But I didn't. It's me little secret. Hehehehe.

August 30th, 2010

…marked the very first (official) day of my sophomore year here at AU. And so far, I’m lovin’ it.

Let’s rewind. Friday was the official move in day for upperclassmen, which meant that I got there just one day after 700 rowdy and scared new freshmen arrives on campus. I remember all of the feelings I had during my freshmen orientation week. I was nervous for classes. I missed my family. I was excited to meet new people. I was overwhelmed at the number of people I met. I was scared that I wasn’t going to be able to find my classes.

Anyway, back to present day. Friday morning I loaded up little ol’ Tercel and I headed to Anderson, with Mikey following behind. We arrived on campus and unpacked my car, while in the process seeing a plethora of familiar faces. I unpacked my stuff, got the key for my room, and sat in my room for awhile because I had absolutely no idea what to do with all of my stuff. I was overwhelmed!

Alex and Rachel came over and helped me move some furniture (oh, and we lofted beds, not so easy with three people by the way). I felt a little better because we had made some progress. I finished unpacking most of my stuff and went around and helped other people rearrange their rooms, and ended up staying in my dorm room Friday night (even though I forgot my sheets at home, that was an unpleasant evening).

Saturday morning my family (mom, dad, brother) came up with things from home that I needed. You know, the essential dorm room stuff, television, microwave, fridge, sheets, hangers, the usual. We unpacked all that and they left in a flash.

Carrie got here mid-afternoon Saturday and I was so excited to see her and get her unpacked and make our room all pretty decorated. And that’s just what we did the rest of Saturday. Unpacked her stuff, rearranged the room a little bit, oh and had the Haven for the first time (my stomach is still adjusting to that food).

And here I am. The night after the very first day of classes. It’s so weird how different I feel from last year. Last year I was so nervous for classes, and this year, I walk with more confidence in knowing people, and knowing what to expect from certain professors.

My name is Kelsi, and I am a sophomore at Anderson University. Officially. Let the games begin.

What Really Happens in the Cornfields

Went to Cincinnati to the famous home furnishings store, IKEA. One way in, one way out, this place is absolutely ginormous and is filled with anything you could ever imagine!

I spent 24 dollars today on a mouse pad, a wok, a pack of chopsticks, Swedish cookies, Swedish jam, a pillow, a reusable bag, and Swedish chocolate. Pretty cheap!

Anyway, to a more less positive note, on the way to IKEA, Alex, her mom, and I encountered something pretty crazy. We were on the highway, or somewhere like that, and there was this huge semi truck in front of us. All of the sudden we see a man coming towards us who is pulling over onto the side of the road. His truck is smoking and he gets out very fast and looks pretty ticked off. We thought he had a hit and run and was mad about the other person driving off. We then see him pull out his phone and run across the street to the cornfield. All three of us are wondering where in the world he is going. Then we see her. We all look the the right of us and there she was, an elderly woman in her car, in the middle of a cornfield. How did that happen you ask? She was turning left into her driveway that is right off the highway. This man in the truck was coming towards her. This woman, Rosie (we later learned), pulled right out on front of him and he had to time to brake so they collided, sending Rosie in a few spins and straight to the cornfield.

We stopped the car and got out to make sure everything was alright with her while the other man called the cops and ambulance. We talked to Rosie, she said she didn't feel hurt, and learned that she lived by herself and all of her kids live out of state. We were there for about 20 minutes when the police showed up, and by the time we had left, the ambulance hadn't even gotten there. Hopefully Rosie wasn't too injured internally because the ambulance took forever and a day to get there. I just thank God that each of the people involved in the accident weren't hurt too badly, or at all.

What an exciting day!

P.s. Happy Birthday..someone! You know who you are :)

To Save a Life

Anyone ever heard of this movie? I rented and watched it tonight, probably a new favorite of mine.

It's about a boy, Roger, with no friends who walks into a school, fires a gun, and then takes his own life. All while this is happening, his former friend, Jake, sees him doing this. He tries to stop it but the boy pulls the trigger anyway. Jake believes this is his fault because Roger was not happy with his life. At the start of their freshman year, Roger and Jake were best friends. But slowly as the year progressed, Roger ends up with no friends, people making fun of him, and no body to be his friend, not even Jake.

Jake feels bad because he believes it is his fault that Roger took his own life. Because whenever Roger was bullied, Jake watched, and let him take it. Roger didn't think anyone was there for him, so he decided to end everything.

Watch the movie to find out what Jake does to turn his life around and make the world a better place. I'll give you all a hint.

Jesus.

Here We Go Again..

Went to Anderson University again tonight with Alex, Katie and her family to see the Colts practice. Going back to yesterday's blog about meeting famous people and getting their autograph, ever heard of a guy named Pat McAfee? He is the punter for the Colts, his number is 1, and he is absolutely gorgeous.

And I got his autograph. Whoop-dee-doo.

Here's a pic of him and his fancy signature. Didn't catch a picture with him though :(

What a babe.

If Every Second Counts on a Clock That's Tickin'..

..we gotta live like we're dying. And meet some famous people along the way. :)

Had a pretty great last few weeks of summer. Got to meet some fun celebs at the concerts I went to, thanks to a certain someone who shall remain unnamed :). SERIOUSLY, I appreciate it ;)

Anyway, Alex and I met Kellie Pickler at the Rascal Flatts concert because we got some meet & greets. Kellie is definitely a sweetheart! But at the Keith Urban concert, by pure luck, Alex and I were able to meet Kris Allen right after the concert just outside his tour bus. So cool. He is such a nice guy! (And cute, too! :)

New Interests

I have recently become very interested in old things. No, not people, like antique stuff. And thanks to Goodwill my new interest is really growing. I have bought records, cassettes, and even a record player (from eBay).

For some reason I really like listening to cassettes in my car, it is so cool how you have to rewind and fastforward to get to the song that you want. I love how all of my cassettes are old bands/solo artists.

My cassettes are as follows:

-50's Jumpin' Jive
-The Cranberries
-Crusin' Classics (50's and 60's)
-Vanilla Ice
-WOW Worship from 1998
-Crusin' Classics
-Buddy Holly
-Bryan Adams
-Sandi Patty
-Footloose
-Rock N' Roll Superstars
-Michael Jackson
-The Hop
-The Beach Boys
...And last but not least..
-MC Hammer

Enough said.

Mickey Mouse

This is the mouse that we all know and love, Mickey Mouse. I had the opportunity of becoming acquainted with a mouse, but not the one that was created in 1928 by Walt Disney.

Alex, Jackson (her nephew), and I went swimming a few days ago at one of her dad's friends house.

We went there a few days before and the pool was on the line of gross and nasty. There were just so many bugs and leaves and moss in the pool. Alex quickly got everything sick out of the pool with the net and we went on swimming the day away.

Anyway, the second time we went there it was the same story. We saw bugs, leaves and the moss-looking stuff. We got most of the things out of the pool except for one thing.

While Alex was applying sunscreen to Jackson, I decided to walk into the pool using the steps and about 3 seconds later was greeted by a cute little forest creature.

A mouse.

I quickly ran up the steps and onto the concrete saying very calmly, "Oh my gosh! A mouse! In the pool!" (Very calmly? Ha.)

He was kind of cute sitting safely in the corner of the pool, not bothering anyone. But I decided that I wasn't going to leave the pool unless we got him out of the pool and onto safe ground.

I grabbed the net and creeped over near the mouse, slowly lowering the net into the water and closer and closer to the mouse. I got under him and lifted the net up out of the water. But then I realized something, he could run up the pole that I was holding and bite me and kill me with the possible diseases that he carried. So I did the only thing I could think of at the moment.

Scream.

Loud.

As I was screaming bloody murder, I kept trying to scoop up the mouse with the net, and did so unsuccessfully about four times. I finally got under the mouse quickly and flung him out over the pool and onto the grass.

Mission complete.

Happy Birthday Zoey!

Zoey's birthday is today! She is 3 whole years old, which is 21 in doggie years! Gosh, she is old enough to drink alcohol, crazy.

Anyway, for those of you who don't know (or didn't figure out by the "doggie years" comment), Zoey is my cute little puppy that we got two and a half years ago. She is definitely the princess in this family who is going to have a rockin' party tonight because her lovely owner, me, bought her a cute cake at Purr's and Grr's!

Although she doesn't quite comprehend that today is her birthday, she knows something is up when we are giving her treats all day and stuffing her full of pumpkin flavored cake topped with sweet sugar icing.

This one's for you, Zoey Mae Hatheway. We wouldn't be a family without you! :)

Happy 21st Birthday!

The Nanny

I was a nanny this summer for the most amazing kids ever! Hayden and Griffin are the most kind-hearted, sweet, and sensitive children I have ever met. I spent a whole summer with these energetic kiddos and can't believe two and a half months have already flown by.

I spent my summer with these two boys and not my friends (yes I hung out with friends, but the majority was spent with the boys), but it was totally worth it. I loved every second I spent with Hayden and Griffin and we had some great times together.

-Bowling at Woodland Bowl and Pinheads
-Museum of Miniature Houses
-Library Adventures (Jungle John, Olympian Day, Amphibian Jim)
-Ben and Ari's
-Pool days!
-Carter's Toy Museum
-Fire Day
-Police Day
-Children's Museum
-Cool Creek Park
-And everything else I forgot to mention

So here's to the greatest kids ever, Griffin and Hayden :)

Oh Zoey.

She looks cute, yea? And I'm sure most of you reading this have had the privilege of meeting my little princess, Zoey. But here's the thing. She isn't a princess.

Nature was calling, and Zoey had to go outsite, NOW. So I let her outside, but not on her chain. I watched her do her business. I saw the other dogs outside and hoped she wouldn't. She finished and took a few steps toward me but then quickly changed her path to the neighbors yard where two fully grown black labs were.

I ran towards her, yelling her name, but it was too late. Once the owner of the house opened his back door, Zoey was inside, sniffing new things and leaving her mark in the house.

He ran inside and chased her for about 12 seconds then brought her back out saying, "It was kinda fun chasing her around the house!" Yeah, try living with the little ball of energy.

Oh Zoey.

Despicable Me

This is a movie I have been wanting to see ever since it came out just a few short weeks ago. I have heard great things about it and it got really good reviews. And I can't resist those cute yellow alien looking-like things. They are precious.

I found myself sitting in the theater today with Hayden, the boy I nanny, wearing a pair of 3-D glasses and holding a box of Reese's Bites. I sat through the film and when it was over, I realized something.

I had laughed twice. Twice.

Soooooo I have come to a conclusion: Don't see it. It's not worth your money. It's not funny. What it does have is those cute alien thingys. That's about it.

The Colts? At Anderson University?

Yes, yes people it is true. The Colts are holding their training camp at Anderson University's campus for the next three weeks.

So, yesterday Lex and I had to make a trip up to Anderson to pick up something for me and on the way there we went to..

..Taco Bell!

Okay that wasn't the most exciting part of this story..promise.

Anyway, we decided to drive through the campus and take a sneak peek at the famous team playing on my field! The main road was closed, which I figured, and everywhere else you could park cost a whopping ten dollars. We found a parking spot on the street and paid a whopping..NOTHING! Score for us.

I got out of the car and walked toward an opening to the valley and thought 'Yes! We're in!' Until I saw the sign that read "DO NOT ENTER." So, we had to find a new way to the field. We started walking towards the field on the sidewalk but were soon stopped by a security guard blocking the street. Lexi and I asked him how we could get to the field and he responded with..

"See those people over there? (People cutting through the valley by the "DO NOT ENTER" sign) Just follow them through, there isn't a security guard over there. I can't let you go through this way, but no one is over there stopping you."

Nice to know they were protected.

So we proceeded to sneak in the camp and see Jim Caldwell. No big deal.

Not So Much...

Remember about a week ago when I was on the radio..and lost the contest?

I had a little bit of deja-vu this week with try #2.

Here's the story. I called in Tuesday morning to try to win the contest that WFMS was holding. It was called the giggle game and it is actually a very simple game to win. They played a country singer's laugh and all you had to do was guess the laugh. Pretty easy. I listened Monday morning and immediately knew who the giggler was. I thought I should call in Tuesday and try to win the CD that was being given away.

So, I called in and yes, I was the first caller. This time, however, when the lady answered and asked for my name, I didn't stutter and forget my name. Go me!

Anyway, I was put on hold and a few minutes later the radio DJ played the giggler for me and I knew it was Faith Hill. He said, "So Kelsi, who is this famous giggler?" My response?

"Martina McBride."

I must get nervous when I am on the air.

I will try again next week. Third time's a charm right?

Wait, what?

Last night I went to the movie with Alex and we sat through an hour and a half of pure humor. I'm sure you have heard of the movie "Grown Ups" with Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, and Rob Schneider. Sooooo funny.

Well anyway, just before the showing, I decided to use the restroom so I didn't have to be annoying halfway during the show and step on people's toes and say "excuse me" seven times. I got to the bathroom and there was no line. To all guys out there, this IS a big deal at a movie theater. Us girls always have to wait in line.

So, I walked out and on my way back to the theater I saw something I have never seen before.

A line in the guy's restroom. What? I thought girls were supposed to travel in packs and create enormous lines in the bathroom. Hey, I'm not complaining though, I was the one who didn't have to wait. Girls win this one.

I walk to the theater, laugh my butt off for 90 minutes straight and Alex and I are on our way back to her house. I stayed the night and left her house around noon today. I was driving home and I was driving through a neighborhood and saw something pretty crazy.

A guy was pushing a little girl in a stroller. Not so crazy right? He was texting. No big shocker there. But because he WAS texting and not paying attention to the sidewalk, he kind of veered off and somehow got into the street. A oncoming car honked their horn and the guy swerved back onto the sidewalk saving that cute little girl enjoying her walk. And the not-so-responsible brother/dad/babysitter..whatever he was.

Now THAT is crazy. Thank you God for keeping both of them safe today.

Springhill

Took Lex to Springhill today. She will be gone for twelve days! I am so happy that she gets to go again this summer but I am already missin' her. It's gonna be a long two weeks.

On the way home, my dad and I found a '72 Volkswagen for sale in Seymour. We don't know how much it costs or anything, but I do know one thing..

..I want it.

Some family members are here in Fishers for a week from Colorado! I usually see them once a year and this time it's my great-aunt Pam, her daughter, Dana, and Dana's daughter.

We decided to go out to dinner last night with those girls from Colorado, my mom, my grandma, and myself. We had some good laughs and a lot of fun together! It was fun catching up with them and learning new things about each of them.

Today was a girl's day out which included Starbucks and pedicures! We went to Fisher's Nails and my mom, second cousin, and me all got the supreme treatment of pedicure heaven. As I was getting my toenails painted, the man who was Vietnamese asked me why there was a band-aid on my upper leg. I said, "Oh, I accidentally cut it.." hoping he wouldn't ask anymore questions or make another comment. Nope, he didn't stop there.

He proceeded to say, "Oh, so did the razor win?" Yeah, HE. He knew I was talking about shaving my legs when I said I had accidentally cut myself.

Hey, it could have been worse. At least I shaved my legs.

Backwards Songs

Have you ever tried to call in to your favorite radio station to win a contest? You know, be the #17 caller to win a free trip to Disney (but first you have to answer a random question about animals), or how about the first caller, (but you must first say a silly tongue twister). THOSE radio contests.

If you have tried to call in and be the first, second, third..etc. caller, you know how frustrating it is to call and hear that annoying three-dinged noise. You know, the one you hear when you dial the wrong number. But on the radio when this happens, you hear those three-dings and a familiar voice say, "I'm sorry, please try your call again later as there is too much phone traffic now." When you hear that though, you probably don't just give up there, do you? No. You hang up and quickly hit the redial button only to hear that familiar voice again deliver the "I'm sorry.." message.

Now, how many times have you actually gotten through and hear a voice say to you, "Hello! You are our first caller, what's your name?"

That is what I heard this morning on my way to work. (Only after I was asked what my name was, I froze up and responded about five seconds too late.) Way to go, Kels.

In order to win the contest that was going on, you had to be the first caller and listen to a randomly selected song and name the song. Sounds easy, right? Oh I guess i forgot to mention the part where the song is played BACKWARDS. So, I listened to the song and totally knew what it was. Brad Paisley - "Ticks." Absolutely.

The radio personality asked me, "Okay, Kelsi, what is the name of this song? So I responded confidently with my answer of "Ticks" and I knew I had it in the bag.

Until he responded with, "Oh no, I'm so sorry, Kelsi. Next caller?"

My happiness sure lasted long.

Barry Bonds..?

The 5-year old boy I babysit for said something super cute today.

I walked into the house at 8 a.m. like I do everyday. Dad was there like usual, and helped the 5-year old set up the PlayStation before he left for work. He turned it on and the 5-year old stars rambling about baseball. He says, "I love Barry Bonds! Hey dad, who is Barry Bonds?"

And he thinks he knows EVERYTHING about baseball. Psh.

Look-Alike?

This is what I saw at the "Rockstars, Cars, and Guitars" exhibit at The Children's Museum the other day..

I didn't know you were supposed to dress the part when you visited...hmm.
